M.Mahadevan has been in the business of hospitality and catering for over 30 years in various capacities. His passion for food led him to start Oriental Cuisines Private Limited (OCPL) in May 1994 under the name of Chaitanya Gourmet Splendour Private Limited. It was later renamed Oriental Cuisines Private Limited (OCPL) in March 1997.
OCPL commenced operations with China Town and Hot Breads and Mahadevan was instrumental in setting up the chain of Hot Breads units in India as well as overseas. The Indian operations were subsequently transferred to a separate division from 2001-02. OCPL owns and operates units in various cities like Chennai, Kolkata and Bangalore.
Apart from the above he has set up 42 bakeries and restaurants in the USA, Middle East, Africa, Canada, France and London.
He is now an NRI holding a resident Visa for the Emirates.
Born on April 7, 1955, Mahadevan graduated in Commerce and being the multi-faceted man that he is, he also served as a teaching professor at the University of Madras and subsequently commenced his own catering business. His success story is unparalleled and what started off as one humble bakery unit has now grown to an epic brand in the hospitality industry.
